  • Summer 2015 Classes

During the summer, QARI offers a variety of English classes that are different from our Fall and Spring classes. Sometimes these classes are experimental or a little more fun, and many focus on specific language skills. The Summer session runs for 8 weeks, while Fall and Spring sessions run for 14 weeks.

Summer sessions, excluding the Intensive Beginner Class, are conversation only, focusing on level appropriate topics that can be tailored to the interests of the class. The current options for our 2015 Summer session are in the picture to the right and listed with more information below. We hope you’ll enjoy and tell us what you think!

To register for our classes, please visit the QARI Office at 1509 Hancock Street, Suite 209, or call the office (617-472-2200) to make an appointment for a placement test. All students must take a placement test to assure the proper placement in class. Registration is on a rolling basis, and is available for current classes between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM daily.

  • Year-round QARI offers four levels of ESOL on weekday mornings. These classes are not free, but are offered at an affordable, subsidized rate of $160 per semester, thanks to generous donations from The Harold Brooks Foundation, State Street, and TD Bank. Classes are 3 hours long meet two times per week.

We run sessions for the Fall and Spring for 14 weeks, and the Summer Session runs for 8 weeks. Fall and Spring sessions are comprehensive, with reading/writing and speaking/listening all making up an important part of language learning. Summer sessions, excluding the Intensive Beginner Class, are conversation only, focusing on level appropriate topics that can be tailored to the interests of the class.

In addition to our morning program, QARI also offers free ESOL classes in the evenings, through a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Classes meet for 7.5 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings.

We are always accepting applications for our evening program, but please be aware that, because classes are free, the wait time is often over a year.

  • Take a look at the great work being done in our Workplace Education Program with our partners at JP Fuji Group, who are generously supporting their employees’ education. At the start of the program, these students spoke only a few words of English. Look at them now!
