Gene Lee Unsung Hero Award: Tony Liang

Visionary Award: Sandy Wong-Ng and State Street Asian Professionals Alliance

 
 

Sandy Wong-Ng has been the State Street Asian Professionals Alliance (APA) coordinator for QARI events since 2009. Through her leadership, she facilitates over 100 dedicated APA volunteers. State Street APA provides support for all of QARI’s major community festivals and events, which is the volunteer foundation for QARI’s events and attributed for much of their well-executed success.

JOHN "JACK" LYDON VISIONARY AWARD John “Jack” Lydon has been a lifelong resident of Quincy. He is well respected as a community leader and businessman and is the Funeral Director of the Lydon Chapel. Jack was President of the Quincy City Council for 18 years. He has served on several boards whose mission is to better the community. Jack is also recognized for his work in facilitating the vision of the immigration of the Asian population to Quincy.

TIM WISMAR FOUNDERS' AWARD  Tim Wismar is president of the congregation at Wollaston Lutheran Church (WLC), now a majority Chinese congregation. WLC has sponsored three low-income housing projects: Fenno House, Town Brook House and Bauer House with a total of 375 units. The church also sponsors the Wollaston Child Care Center with approximately 100 students and the Asian American Service Association which operates the Wollaston Senior Center. Tim served on the QARI board from 2008 until his mandatory term expiration in 2017. He continues to serve QARI as a close advisor to the board.

Their contribution includes hosting two of QARI's satellite sites which has increased QARI’s ability to serve a broader audience, providing free space for our city-wide festivals, and collaborating on new initiatives to expand critical services. The South Shore YMCA has made invaluable contributions to the community by opening its doors to the clients that QARI serves.

Their contribution includes hosting two of QARI's satellite sites which has increased QARI’s ability to serve a broader audience, providing free space for our city-wide festivals, and collaborating on new initiatives to expand critical services. The South Shore YMCA has made invaluable contributions to the community by opening its doors to the clients that QARI serves.
