Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. (‘QARI’ pronounced as quarry), founded in 2001 in Quincy, MA, is a nonprofit social services organization which provides a broad range of services to the Asian and immigrant community in Quincy, Randolph, the Merrimack Valley, Lowell, Boston, and New York City. QARI’s services and programs include family and community outreach, adult education, youth development, and Workforce Enterprise.
In January 2018, QARI launched its Workforce Enterprise initiative which partners with organizations that want to expand their impact and services in the growing Asian and immigrant community. These strategic partnerships, where QARI provides workforce and solutions to the higher education, healthcare, municipality, and service industries, also create meaningful career opportunities for the immigrant community. Most of the Workforce Enterprise services and programs are provided at QARI’s strategic partners sites.
As a member of OARI’s Family & Community Services (F&CS) team, Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for providing immigrant clients information and referral services to help them solve problems and identify pathways to grow and eventually become self-sufficient. We are looking for a qualified candidate that has passion and experience in supporting the immigrant community. This will also include client recruitment to QARI services and programs to various QARI centers and partner sites in New York City.
The Community Outreach Specialist should have a ‘can-do’ attitude with tremendous curiosity, positive energy, patience, and most importantly knowing how to solve problems. In addition, s/he should be interested in retelling clients success stories that how other immigrants journey through similar situations. We are looking for someone who is bilingual in fluent Chinese and Spanish.
Prepare marketing materials for the program
Conduct outreach activities to market the program in order to recruit new clients and re-engage former clients
Follow-up with clients and with referral organizations regarding client contact and progress with referral organization
In collaboration with program staff, work with clients to break through barriers to client goals and to assist clients in advocating for themselves and in moving toward self-sufficiency
Contact clients via telephone, mail and/or face-to-face home and office visits to ensure adherence to program, and document via progress notes
Escort clients to appointments (educational, medical, social service, etc.)
Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports
Participates at QARI’s cultural events, Lunar New Year Festival and Quincy August Moon Festival, and annual community banquet,
High School diploma or G.E.D. and/or equivalent experience
Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to the immigrant community
Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining community relationships with clients, community organizations, business, etc.
Must be fluent in one of these languages, Chinese (Cantonese / Mandarin) or Spanish
