Thank you for a successful Quincy August Moon Festival!

The sincerest of thank you to all those who celebrated the August Moon Festival with us this weekend! This year marks not only the 30th anniversary of the festival, but the first year that QARI partnered with the City of Quincy to make the festival its Signature Event for the month of August. A crowd of nearly 20,000 gathered in Quincy Center  to celebrate diversity and community spirit. On this beautiful Sunday, family, children, and friends enjoyed traditional and contemporary performances, arts & crafts, gaming, virtual reality, a children’s area with a petting zoo and pony rides, and - as always - delicious food!

This festival would be impossible without the collaboration of Mayor Thomas Koch and the City of Quincy, Quincy Public Schools, the Quincy Police, Department of Public Works, Park & Recreation, Fire Department, and the South Shore YMCA.

Elected officials also attended and participated, including Mayor Thomas Koch, State Senator John Keenan, State Representative Tackey Chan, City Councillors Kirsten Huges, Ian Cain, Noel DiBona, and Nina Liang. We appreciate all that you do for the community!

Our gratitude goes to our Presenting Sponsor, South Cove Community Health Center; Diamond Sponsor, The City of Quincy; and Jade Sponsors, Carney Hospital, Eastern Bank, the MBTA, McDonald’s, National Grid, Quirk Cars, and Tufts Medical Center. We would also like to thank our Community Partners, The Boston Foundation, Museum of Science, and Massachusetts Cultural Council, as well as Bridgeside Entertainment and C&C Company. A special thank you to Dr. Evelyn Gruss Lipper, a global philanthropist, for her generous donation. Thank you all. Your support goes a long way.

This festival brings together hundreds of volunteers. Thank you to the 100+ YouthService Corps members who donated time and energy to make this festival possible. Thank you to State Street volunteers, led by Sandy Ng Wong, for organizing and running the cultural area. Thank you to the Board of Directors for bringing their expertise to the festival. Thank you to Ellen Kaye, our Events Consultant who organized and ran this festival. It would not be possible without any of you.

Thank you to everyone who attended. We hope that you will save the date for the Lunar New Year Festival on February 11, 2018 and next year’s August Moon Festival on August 19, 2018.

With much gratitude,

Philip Chong
CEO, Quincy Asian Resources Inc.
