A Chinese-style banquet, dance and singing performances, and a raffle were part of the 12th annual Quincy Asian Resources (QARI) Community Banquet. About 600 people attended the gala May 17 at China Pearl in Quincy.

“This banquet started 12 years ago,” said Philip Chong, QARI president and CEO. “[We] really wanted to introduce the very traditional Chinese wedding banquet style to bridge the culture gap.”

Chong said the purpose has since evolved to celebrate QARI’s scholarship recipients, recognize its volunteers, and give out awards to key leaders and community partners.
